ImpactAgri and Valmont® Irrigation Enter a Historic Strategic Cooperation Agreement

ImpactAgri and Valmont® Irrigation have entered into a strategic cooperation agreement to accelerate the development of ImpactAgri’s portfolio of sustainable agribusinesses in Africa and expand the deployment of Valmont-built productivity-enhancing and climate-resilient irrigation and agricultural technologies.

  • ImpactAgri has an extensive pipeline of agribusinesses together with extensive experience of agriculture in Africa that will help Valmont deliver on its ambition to further develop its reach in Africa.
  • Valmont brings world-class irrigation expertise to improve the performance and resilience of ImpactAgri’s projects, especially given the critical need for climate-resilient solutions.
  • Valmont will supply water infrastructure equipment and strategic support to ImpactAgri and its projects. ImpactAgri will use and promote Valmont products and services for its own projects and for similar projects across Africa.

ImpactAgri is developing and expanding agribusinesses to produce high-value crops that deliver local nutrition and economic transformation.  Each of these businesses is designed to be commercially attractive, environmentally sustainable and socially inclusive.  ImpactAgri makes extensive use of best- in-class technologies and solutions to reduce the risks and enhance the benefits.  No technology is more important than efficient and effective irrigation and water management solutions.

Valmont is a leader in advancing agricultural productivity, allowing growers to produce more with less through engineered irrigation equipment and connected crop management applications. Its precision ag solutions use future-focused, leading-edge technology to leverage data and machine learning that allow growers to help feed a growing world population more efficiently and effectively. Valmont sees substantial growth opportunities in Africa that can help support food security initiatives and other environmental benefits, as well as economic developments for its customers.

ImpactAgri and Valmont are committed to working together to accelerate the development of successful and sustainable agribusinesses in Africa and to begin to unlock the potential of irrigated agriculture for both greenfield and established enterprises.

Jon White, group CEO, ImpactAgri commented:
“Efficient and sustainable water management is essential to the long-term viability of high-value agriculture in all parts of the world, especially given the challenges of climate change.  Despite this, access to the benefits of irrigation has been limited for many farmers in Africa. We are very excited to be working with Valmont to deliver best-in-class solutions for businesses and to extend the reach of advanced irrigation technologies to smaller-scale farmers and a wide range of crops in Africa.”

Kalle Autto, Regional Vice President for Middle East and Africa, Valmont Irrigation, said:
“Innovative irrigation and water management solutions are critical to realize the agricultural potential in sub-Saharan Africa: they not only unlock high-value business opportunities, but ensure solutions are resilient, especially in response to the challenge of climate change. As a leading global provider of engineered products and services for infrastructure and irrigation equipment and services for agriculture, we believe that our approach in Africa should be different from other regions.  We are working proactively to support the creation of agribusiness opportunities that deliver real social benefits. We are delighted to be working with ImpactAgri considering its strong track record with high-value crops and its shared strategic focus on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG).”
