Example: Identify market entry and development

Madagascar’s primary forest is facing major ongoing deforestation, driven primarily by population pressures and the rapid increase in slash-and-burn subsistence agriculture. The World Bank is working with government to orient the rural population towards more sustainable agriculture practices.

We worked for the World Bank and Madagascan government to review and analyse the technical, commercial and socio-economic factors in the region, and identify the crops and value chain opportunities with the most potential. ImpactAgri is also working with local and international partners to develop specific large-scale sustainable agribusiness opportunities in clove oil, cocoa and coffee.

Example: Improve supply chains and business systems

For the Director of Corporate Affairs at a Multinational Retail Corporation we led a project to support smallholders to become commercially viable farmers while improving gender equality and protect natural resources through profitable cross-company action.

We secured twenty international corporations active in the food chain in sub-Saharan Africa to participate in the Programme. Collectively, the programme participants developed Joint Projects to address aspects of crop finance, smallholder training, women’s empowerment and post-harvest losses.
